In Morgan: a suitable case for treatment (Karel Reisz, 1966; see also here), when Morgan threatens to run off to Greece, his mother (the magnificent Irene Handl), a 1930s Communist who “refuses to de-Stalinise”, looks at him incredulously:

I mean, what is there in Greece?

This was pretty much my parents’ attitude to my fieldwork in China.
